Sherry started off her week
with a visit to Le Bon Temps
Sherry was surprised to run into Eric Baucom
as King RB
reminds her the music is about to jump off
and jump off it did...with the Slide Roulers
featuring Brint Anderson and Camile Baudoin
Sherry and Camile enjoy a chat and a beverage between sets
as Brint Anderson serenades his wife with
"She's A Mess and a Half",
Liz Anderson and Sherry view the art work for Jazz Fest Johnny's
Louisiana Bottleneckers & Sliderulers (aka Slidemania
Vol.1)

showing he can always spot a mess and a half,
Brint gave Sherry a big hug
Sherry and her friends Missy & Melissa
enjoy the music
of the Slide Roulers
Sherry was greeted by Miss Veronica when she
visited Eddie Bo's "Check Your Bucket" for lunch
Sherry stopped by the kitchen to say
hello to her friend Chef Karen Such
Sherry was introduced to her new friend Joanne by Miss Veronica
and it was smiles all around when Chef Karen
delivered some truly delicious sandwiches...
you really should check these guys out for lunch
here Sherry gets an autographed Kingfish Magazine
from
Steve & Marilyn Enslow...this month's issue has an article on
great kitchens and features a story on Steve's
famous Crawfish Enslow
the gang, including Jim & Jill visiting
from Cali, then gave a group
Jackie Clarkson salute in hope the benches would one day come
back to Jackson Square
then Sherry went to the New Orleans Arena
and got buzzin' with some Hornets basketball
Randy, Sherry's boss, proudly presents here
with a
Jamal Mashburn Celebra-Duck that was given away
during half-time there was an acrobat from
the Far East that would balance a bowl on
her foot and then kick it up and catch it on her head
Sherry told Amy that she didn't think that
looked so hard....
Sherry was talkin' the talk
and then she went on to walk the walk
and then while nobody was looking
Sherry raided the suite's refrigerator
back at home Sherry proudly placed her Jamal
Mashburn Celebra-Duck
between her Zulu Bobblehead Doll and her James Brown Celebra-Duck
then it was off to Silky's Bar for a birthday
where
Sherry and the Lil Stooges Brass Band led the way
Keewana, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux's niece,
was the birthday girl
and Sherry was quick to add a little cash to her birthday bouquet
and then a little line dancing was in order
you knew it would be a fun night when
Bill Taylor showed up with a drink in each hand
then BT and Sherry were quick to bust a move...
how could it get any better
a double Bill, that's how, as Bill Bender joins the fun
while Keewana holds his other drink,
Bill Taylor lays one on the birthday girl
and then Keewana and Sherry took a twirl
the next afternoon was time to check out
the French Quarter Festival
and jammin' the stage was Sherry's friends
from week #1
The Rockin' Jake Band
takin' care of guitar bidness was Sherry's
old friend and
also an alumnus of week #1, Randy "Junior"
Ellis
here we see Sherry with Rockin' Jake's mother
or as he calls her Rockin' Mom
Sherry ran into her good friends the Boudreaux's,
and it don't get more New Orleans than that
Rockin' Jake then made sure he didn't miss
his
chance for an appearance in the Adventures
when Sherry asked Libra about her taste in
men
she didn't quite expect this answer
Sherry's old friend Missy Bowen was holding
down
the microphone duties at the WWOZ broadcast
of the French Quarter Fest
Sherry was wondering where Walker had been
lately
and made sure he knew about her Crawfish Boil next Saturday
along with great music the French Quarter
Fest
also features the big "Oyster Eating Battle"
while strolling the streets of the French
Quarter
Sherry ran into Daryl, Pam, Joe & Sheila....
all was friendly but that all could change shortly
as Daryl and Pam lead the "Anti-Mikes" against
Sherry's team in the NOLA Fanatasy Football League
on the Royal Street stage the Pfister Sisters
entertained Sherry
with their beautiful voices and great harmonies
Sherry then ran into Tracy Malone, Jeff, Jeff's
wife Betty &
Johnny Malone...Johnny's mom Suzy was an original Pfister Sister
Pat & Bob Stelz agreed with Sherry that
with a beautiful day
and great entertainment, the French Quarter couldn't have been nicer
George and Sherry jumped up on the steps
for some front row seats
on the way home Sherry ran into King RB and his friend Mary Kate
then Sherry grabbed Jim & Jill and escorted
them out for a Saturday Night in New Orleans
first stop was Tipitina's for the CD release
party for
"Straight from the 6th Ward"featuring Treme,
New Birth, Rebirth & Lil Rascals Brass Bands...
here we see the Treme Brass Band leading it off
Sherry introduced Jim & Jill to her old
buddy
David Lee Simmons from Gambit Weekly
Glen Andrews fronted both the Treme and New
Birth Brass Bands
and gave a truly inspired performance
Sherry then ran into David Lee Simmons of
Gambit Weekly,
Charlie Brown from New Orleans.com and Lee Frank
the Executive Producer of the "Straight from the 6th Ward" CD
Dylan tells Sherry he has given the Jackie
Clarkson Salute so
many times he has wind burn on his middle finger....
it's up to all of us to try and get those benches back
next up was the New Birth Brass Band and
Glen Andrews continues to electrify the crowd
Sherry with Kerwin Frazier of New Birth and
Adam Shipley, the producer of
"Straight from the 6th Ward" along with being the Talent Buyer for
Tipitina's
then Jazz Fest Producer Quint Davis jumped
on stage
and pleaded for Sherry to reconsider taking a picture with him.
Sherry was out the door and on her way to...
the Viper's Ball, of course, at Rosy's Music
Hall
for a night of great music and a very fun, unusual atmosphere
Sherry and Melissa Zwiebaum took over the
floor
and showed everybody how it's done
Sherry then got a hug from two of her favorite
men the Gov (Mark Morice) & Camile Baudoin
it's a shame but, Sherry and Tracy & Johnny
Malone
never seem to have any fun when they get together
Sherry was very happy when Adam Shipley &
Jennifer
showed up at the Viper's Ball.....little did Adam know
how his life would change in just minutes
the Gov introduces Sherry to his new friend
he recently met, Bailey the nurse.....that's why he's the Gov
then it all got kinda scary as Sherry spots
a dolled up Tony 8-Track...
ya gotta love the hairy stomach on this chick
here we see Tony with Adam as Adam remembers
back
to when his life was much lovlier...like 3 minutes earlier
the paparazzi flocked in as Tony?, Sherry
& Bill Bender took center stage
and then it just got too weird, which is what
the
Viper's Ball is all about
the man with more fizz than Alka-Seltzer,
Bill Taylor, jumps
in between Sherry and WWOZ's Soul Sister for a Viper's Ball photo
Sherry got a pair of Elton John glasses and
a hickey from Leroy Mitchell a.k.a. Da Whistle Monster
Sherry saw her old friend and one of
New Orleans premier vipers, Kermit Ruffin
then Laurie Glaser and Sherry had a spin on the floor
Sherry then grabbed her date and headed for home
early on Sunday Sherry was joined by Larissa
and JFJ on
Bayou St John to hopefully see the Mardi Gras Indians
parade that was mysteriously canceled two weeks ago
Diana and Sherry scooped up the official shirt
with the
appropriate slogan of "Do Da Damn Thing"
Sherry checked with Larissa and Jay Mazza but no Indians in sight yet
then Sherry's neighbor Big Chief Peppy and
his Golden Arrows
showed up and began singing and soon was joined by many other tribes
Sherry with the Rev Goat Carson who was there to bless the event
Sherry then saw Marianne Abbott and her daughter
and fiance....they are getting married next Saturday
and won't be able to make the Crawfish Boil
Sherry with Ashton Ramsey, one of the elders
of the
Treme community. He makes a new suit every
year just like the Indians, but usually includes clippings
and educational stuff and this year he also
proudly wears his "Adventures of Sherry" button
Sherry had no idea Allen Iverson was masking
this year,
but sure enough there he was
Sherry, Michelle & Mikey B get ready
for the Indians to hit Orleans Ave
Sherry and her old friend Sunpie Barnes in his Skeleton Gang suit
Sherry then ran into whats-his-names Cardiologist
Dr Sergio Schabelman and his wife.....
keep up the good work doc
Big Chief Victor Harris and the Spirit of
the Fi-Yi-Yi
get ready for their turn to parade down Orleans Ave
Penny Sinclair and Sherry agree that it turned out to be a great parade
Sherry then ran into Cayne Miceli who had
not had any sleep
and was still in her costume from the Viper's Ball
and was enjoying every minute of it
then the parade was topped off by something
Sherry had
never seen, a Mardi Gras Indian on stilts
Sherry then hopped a streetcar back down to
the French Quarter Fest
and stopped off for a while in Jackson Square
to her delight Sherry found that her and everyone
else's constant
opposition to Jackie Clarkson paid off as the benches were returned
to Jackson Square....but with a divider between each seat because
Jackie Clarkson wants to keep those pesky homeless people from using
them in the middle of the night to sleep
t
Chucky C from Irma Thomas Professionals was
fronting his
own group at one o the stages in Jackson Square
and among all the music was also one of
Sherry's favorites....the guy that gets chained
in a straight jacket and then takes forever to get out
Sherry then ran into her old friend Kevin
Aucoin
with his girlfriend Lauri and the kids Katie and AJ
and their new dog-Mr. Mojo
Wanda Rouzan was doin it at one of the stages right on the river
back at the main stage it was Sherry's good
friend Kermit
along with Corey Henry and the Barbeque Swingers
and Kermit had Sherry and the gang shakin' it
Kermit's daughters joined in with a Bunny Hop Second Line
and then...through the crowd appeared Bill Taylor
what else can ya say?
and then Uncle Lionel did his thang
next up was Wardell Quezergue and his Orchestra
for a set of superb big band swing
Diana, Sherry, Gallivan & Brooks enjoyed every minute of it
at first Sherry thought she was joking, but
Diana
finally convinced Sherry it was time to go home
