Sherry and Zach had heard that Johnny Blancher
(from Rock n' Bowl®) had taken over
Ye Olde College Inn,
so they decided to pay him a visit
and Sherry surprised Johnny with a visit to the kitchen
Sherry then was off to the airport to pick
up her
granddaughter Mariah, her daughter Amy
& Amy's boyfriend Teddy for some early
Mardi Gras partying
but first some hot crawfish and turkey necks
no doubt who her grandmother is
with Mardi Gras coming soon it was
time to sew, sew, sew
a tutu for some party perhaps?
Sherry and the Pizza Sluts then had another
meeting/dinner
to wrap up details from last weekends wet
Krewe du Vieux parade
when Ray "Plaine"
Kern (Captain of Krewe du Vieux
from 1988-1998 and King of Krewe du Vieux 1999)
dropped by to say hello to Sherry & the Pizza Sluts
the next afternoon Sherry and Mariah went
out for
a little lunch and to pass down to her granddaughter
the finer points of the Sherry Wave©
Sherry and Mariah were joined by Doson Noodle
house
owner/chef Doson Ha and his daughter Alison
the first of what would become a
continuing Saints theme for the week....
Sherry ran into Leroy Mitchell Jr better known to
Saints fans as da Whistle Monsta. Next to him is
New Orleans artist Dave Joyner (hidden), across from
him is Patrick and to his right (with Hornets hat )
VP of Giacona Corp. Corrado Giacona III
then it was off to National Art & Hobby
for some more costuming ideas
Sherry was really glad to run into
her old friend Billy Solitario, who
she hadn't seen in a couple years
Friday nights parades were rained
out but Sherry was ready on Saturday.
Here she gets some beads off the first float of the year
from the Saints outstanding guard LeCharles Bentley,
continuing our theme of Saints encounters ....
and by the way in Paris, LeCharles
is simply known as The Charles
Sherry & her daughter Amy with the panties they snagged
Steve Enslow, of the Pizza Sluts, helps Sherry
& Mariah
celebrate Mariah's excellent catch of a spear
continuing a full week of Saints encounters...
Abdul dTentmakur jumped from his float when he
saw a chance for his debut in the Adventures
then it was back up Magazine for
David Kunian's birthday party....
music provided by Troy "Trombone Shorty"
and friends
and the birthday boy was Grand Marshall
for a second line through the neighborhood
another in Sherry's series of "sure signs
it's Mardi Gras"....
a man dancing with his dog
Sherry's good friends John & Cathy came
down
from Jackson, MS for the party and some parades
Sherry with Renee (who put the whole party
together)
Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews and da birfday man hisself....
David Kunian
then Sherry went to the Rivershack for more
birthday festivities.....here we see Sherry with
Dannal Perry from Studio Inferno, Johnny Malone
and Robert Johnston from the Boondoggles and
Robert's wife Michelle, who was also celebrating
a birthday
Sherry and her daughter Amy groovin' to the Boondoggles
and then Sherry found our other birthday girl....
Tracy Malone
the Boondoggles called the girls on stage
and presented them with a birthday King Cake
Tracy had Sherry straighten her crown
and then....
it was time to party
Sherry with Tracy and their friend Shannon....
Sherry met Shannon at Tipitina's in week #37
Dave Malone of the Radiators said he was at
the Rivershack
for Tracy's birthday and to see his son Johnny play....
but rumor has it he was also there to get his picture with Sherry...
well done Dave
Sunday morning Mariah leads the gang onto
Frenchman Street for the Carnival Creations Boutique
and there were plenty of great costumes and
accessories
that a girl just has to have
Sherry and Mariah were happy to see Tracy
Thomson
from Kabuki Design Studio, where Sherry gets
all her Mardi Gras hats...and something says Sherry is
wearing her next purchase
while trying on her new Kabuki hat, Sherry ran into her old friend
Patty and her friend Delhia who recently broke both arms
in a snowboarding accident...
hopefully Mardi Gras will be less painful
Sherry and Mariah then stopped to chat with
some of the pretty pooches on their
way to the Krewe of Barkus
then it was parade time Uptown
Sherry with her new friend Kirk Strang, who
was in town from
Madison, Wisconsin for some Mardi Gras fun....
lurking behind them and hoping to make another appearance in the Adventures
is the Times Picayune's hilarious columnist Chris Rose
unfortunately his picture came out blurry
because
Chris couldn't stand still long enough because he
kept urging everyone in the crowd to come see
his great show "The A_____ Monologues"
at the State Palace Theater....
no charge for the plug Chris
back in week #12 we
saw Sherry in the motorized recliner
and told you we would be seeing this again during Mardi Gras....
Voila
not bad for the first weekend of parades
with only 9 days to Mardi Gras Sherry couldn't
resist
another visit to the Golden Arrows Mardi Gras Indians
practice lead by Sherry's neighbor Big Chief Peppy....
here we see Big Chief Peppy welcoming a visiting
Chief from another gang
Adam Shipley of Tipitina's was there to soak
in the energy
and to get his picture with Sherry and
Big Chief Peppy's wife, Wanda
David Kunian was all smiles when Sherry told
him and Michelle
how much she was enjoying the Mardi Gras song profiles on
WWOZ that David wrote and produced with his partner Bill Taylor
Sherry then saw Grasshopper, who Sherry met
in week # 35....
Grasshopper introduced Sherry to Steve Picou the
Assistant Director of the Louisiana Music Commission
like everybody else, Sherry loves Bill Taylor...
she just wishes he could learn how to enjoy himself
Mariah, Sherry & Amy send out the warning
"hold onto your hats, Mardi Gras is almost here"
